A Battle Worth Fighting Book Review

A wonderful split time novel that kept me engrossed from start to finish! The modern day story centers around Sahara and a fight to keep her marriage intact.  Her road is certainly not an easy one, and her attempts to make her husband notice her seem to fall flat at every turn.  But bless him, her husband is a genuine lover of poetry and nature and beauty, and once she realizes that in a newer, deeper way, nothing can stop them. The historic story features Sahara’s ancestor who was brave enough to fight in the Civil War – as a woman soldier!  Forgive my naivete, but I genuinely had NO…

    A Brighter Dawn Book Review

It has been a LONG time since I last read an Amish novel as intriguing as this one.  It’s the first time I’ve ever read one that featured a dual timeline, and even more importantly, the first time I’ve read one that had any sort of historical references. A Brighter Dawn features three sisters in the present day who have just lost their parents to a car accident.  Their grandmother believes that it would be best for them to visit their Lancaster, PA Amish relatives as there are things in their past that need to be explained.  A long cross-country journey finds Rosene sharing Clare’s story of how she traveled…

    In This Moment Book Review

There is literally no good way to start a review for this book.  Like every other reviewer, I am struggling to even come up with adequate words to describe my experience with In This Moment in such a way that would convince someone else to read it.  Simply put – it is amazing! Unless I’m mistaken, there’s been very few time travel stories written within the Christian fiction genre.  (Maybe they are actually out there, and I’m just unaware.)   I feel like Gabrielle has hit an untapped market of readers by merging time travel and faith together into her Timeless series.  The combination of these two elements has provided me with…

Hope Between the Pages Book Review

This will be one of those reviews where I’ll first start with “don’t shoot the messenger,” but also, “please read to the end.” 🙂 I have not particularly enjoyed Pepper Basham’s writing up to this point. Yes, it’s good, but I have not been “sucked in” to a story. The first one I read I DNFed (and that was after going back a second time to see if I could make it through – I really tried, y’all!), and the second book was just ok. I couldn’t figure out what I was missing. Why do all my reviewer friends love her books and I don’t?! Well, I guess I just…
