Jewelry Stories from His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past + Bonus GIVEAWAY!
Hi there! I’m so happy you decided to join me today for a recap of some fun designs created for His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past by Mindy Steele. Mindy was a new-to-me author, but referred by another author who I admire. When she asked me if I would be interested in reading one of her books and designing some pieces, I jumped at the chance – mostly because she writes Amish fiction which I enjoy so very much.
I hope you’ll love this tiny glimpse into her book with each of the pieces I’ve shared below. I’ll see you at the end for a recap and behind-the-scenes glimpse into each design. 🙂
Oh, what fun! Each one of these passages stood out so vividly in my mind, and were just perfect to translate into jewelry and bookmarks.
- The onyx necklace was a brand new stone in my shop. I’ve never used it in any of my designs before, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity!
- The quilt bookmark was a similar design to another quilt bookmark design I have in my shop, and there’s a connection with it, too. Laurel Blount was the author that referred Mindy to me, and the other quilt bookmark was designed for Laurel’s book, Shelter in the Storm. What a happy coincidence!
- Pearls – I never need an excuse to use them, but I loved this “pearl” passage so much!
- The star earrings came about in a different way. I had marked in my notes that I had made a star design for this book, but when it came time to take all the pictures, I couldn’t find them anywhere! Since I was in a rush to get everything ready in time to share on my Instagram and Facebook pages, I had to put something together in a hurry. It took all of two minutes to imagine this design, then bring it to life, and I love the final result! Admittedly, I did find the other star design a few days later, so those will be coming down the road I’m sure.
- Last but not least, I couldn’t let this sweet statement about Daniel slip by because the way he loves on these girls in the book gave me all the warm fuzzies. This line about giving those girls the sun, the bees, and everything else they could ever need was perfect to incorporate into a bookmark.
As always, I have linked each design underneath the photo so you can view more photos and details.
But wait – there’s more!
I want to give you an opportunity to read this book for yourself, so I’m going to share my SIGNED copy with you along with the quilt bookmark from this collection! Subscribed! 🙂 Thank you for the chance to win a cool giveaway. Although I’ve read the book, it will make an excellent upcoming birthday present for a very dear friend. I will have to admit that I might be torn a bit about giving the bookmark too.
