Double Indemnity Book Review

no title has been provided for this book
Someone stands to gain millions of dollars from a hunter’s accidental death . . . unless that death wasn’t an accident. Matt and Elena Thompson present the picture of perfection. But their enviable life isn’t all it seems. Their marriage is on the rocks, and financial disaster looms. Then Matt is killed in a hunting accident, and the questions and accusations begin to mount. Attorney Liz Acosta, newly arrived in the mountains of north Georgia…

Finally at the end of this audiobook, and I’m honestly not sure how I feel about it? I REALLY wanted to like it thanks to so many great reviews I’ve seen already. I really wanted to like it even more as it has numerous mentions of life insurance, policy language, and types of coverage that I work with on a daily basis (I totally geeked out over ALL of that).

But the closer I got to the end, it just fell so flat. I knew what would inevitably happen to Matt, but it took sooooo long to get there (no spoilers, promise). Elena’s character drove me nuts, but on the flip side, I loved Liz. When the bad guy was finally revealed, it was so rushed. I wanted there to be a SCENE, not just a sentence or two.

This was my first by this author, and I know there are most likely some other great books by him. By no means is this going to be the only time I’ll read his work. I just wanted this book to be better than what it ultimately was.
