Jewelry Inspired by Tidewater Bride – Day 1

Welcome back to our week of jewelry inspired by Tidewater Bride! In case you missed yesterday’s interview with Laura Frantz, pop on over to this link to get some of the history behind jewelry design and materials that were present in early James Towne.

I hope you are ready for these next few days of jewelry because there are a total of TWELVE new designs that I have been planning and putting together since Tidewater Bride was released. I have bookmarked and highlighted my Kindle copy probably more than any other book I’ve ever read…and with good reason. 🙂 There were so many little nuggets of info and quotable portions that were all perfect for my creative mind.

So before I go any further with this week’s feature, let me give a very heartfelt thank you to Laura for her exquisite novels. Each one that I’ve read (and there’s only a couple that I haven’t) has such painstaking attention to detail, and I feel like I’ve learned something new about history before I’ve reached the end. Thank you so much for joining me here at Bliss this week and for sharing your time and talent with all of us!

Below you’ll see four new designs alongside excerpts from Tidewater Bride showing where I drew my inspiration. Each photo is captioned with a link to the product where you can view more details and photos.

Hope you enjoy!

“Watseka soon had an apron full of ribbed mussels so common alongshore. She held out her dripping apron. ‘Tshecomah.‘ Selah nodded, thinking Watseka’s native word more winsome. ‘Shells.'”

“Her skirts swirled becomingly as if she were dancing with the wind. And her gown . . . purple as a Scottish thistle. Did she know it was his favorite color?”

“. . .and then Watseka approached, something in her outstretched hands. The shell beads? In the dark they glistened and gave a faint tinkling sound.”

Ah, just reading back through all these excerpts has me all in the feels!! I adored Watseka and her creations for Selah and Xander. ❤ The scene where she gives her necklaces to them. . .oh my goodness, it is the sweetest thing ever written. And I’ve always loved creating anything that was purple in color. Knowing that was Xander’s favorite color – swoon!

The mussel shell beads in the bracelet above are vintage, and surrounded by freshwater pearls. And while there was never a mention of hair pins, I couldn’t resist adding them to this collection after all the mentions of purple and the roses that grew all around Rose-n-Vale.

I hope you have enjoyed Tidewater week so far. Make sure to stop by again tomorrow for more new designs and excerpts from this delightful story!
