My Thoughts
What a thrilling conclusion to the Hope & Glory series! The Prince of Spies took me on one last journey to Washington DC, and I’m so sorry that it’s time to say goodbye to these charming characters.
Elizabeth Camden knows how to weave great educational content into a glittering Gilded Age story. I was fascinated by the information on adulterated food and the lack of oversight concerning food additives and preservatives that existed over 100 years ago. Readers that want to learn something from this historical period will be pleased with the knowledge they’ll gain after reading this entire series.
Lest you think The Prince of Spies was filled with only educational content, I assure you there was an irresistible romance knitted within this story, too! From the first chapter, the chemistry between Luke and Marianne could not be denied, and their efforts to prevent a relationship were all for naught.
While this last book can be read as a stand alone novel, there were some references to the first two books that only those who have read the whole series may understand. The first two books gave this story the additional depth it needed to fully comprehend the feud between the Delacroix and Magruder families.
Here’s to finding another book (or series of books) set in all its Gilded Age splendor that was as enjoyable as the Hope & Glory series! I truly loved my time in Washington DC with the Delacroix family, and hope they all live happily ever after. ♥
