I’m so glad you’ve stopped by my little corner of the webiverse to say hello!
I have been dreaming of this website and all the plans I have for it for several months now. To say I’m excited to share it with you would be a huge understatement. I have so many things planned, and I hope you’ll join me for the ride!
Quick intro – I’m Christy, and I love to read and make jewelry. I decided it was finally time to figure out a way to share all of that in one place. In the past, I’ve shared book reviews and bookish things on old blog (Southern Sassy Things), and I’ve shared jewelry on Etsy (Belle on a Budget). Now, I’ll be featuring both of those here at a new website – Bliss, Books, and Jewels.
Book blogging has come a loooong way since Southern Sassy Things (circa 2012, I think?). My initial plan was to revamp that website, but Blogger has been completely changed from what it used to be, and no matter how hard I tried, I could not log into my old Blogger profile to save my life.
Jewelry has come a long way, too, since Belle on a Budget (started in 2014). I’ve learned so much in that span of time – not only about jewelry assembly and designs, but how to photograph jewelry (a skill of its own), how to run an online business, and a few things about social media.
Anyway…I digress…
Recently, I wondered if there was a way that I could tie books and jewelry together. In my early jewelry making days, I was still doing some reading & reviewing, and had a few collaborations with some great Christian fiction authors. These collabs would be a great brainstorming session, and those early jewelry designs were some of my favorites. I thought – why can’t I do something like that again?!
There are no collaborations going right now (although, I can’t wait to do a new one soon!), but that hasn’t stopped me from being inspired by some great books lately and coming up with some new designs.
My main feature here will be book reviews, but each review will have a piece of jewelry (or even a bookmark) that was inspired by that book. There are already several reviews and jewelry designs in the queue ready to post, and I’ll be sharing all that very soon! Eek – I’m so excited!! 🙂
I’m also working toward getting the shop side of Bliss, Books & Jewels completely stocked in time for the holiday season. My hope is that you can find some great gift ideas for the readers/jewelry wearers in your life.
