Top Ten Tuesday – How My Reading Habits Have Changed Over Time
Well, it’s been a HOT minute since I compiled a Top Ten Tuesday post! Life has been absolutely crazy this year, and my blog has suffered most of all. Here’s hoping today’s post will inject a bit of life into it, and get me back in the rhythm of books that I’ve missed. Today’s topic is about reading habits and how they’ve changed over time. To be honest, this is not a topic I would even give a second thought, but now that I’ve mulled it over a bit, I can see how they’ve changed since I started reading Christian fiction so many years ago. Here’s my attempt at finding…

When the Waters Came Book Review
About the Book Pastor Montgomery Childs has tended his flock in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, for two years. While his pews are full every Sunday, he most desires to see a reckoning between God and the kings of industry who recreate on Lake Conemaugh. The pleasure grounds, flowing alcohol, and business dealings of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club taunts Monty as he works to heal the wounds inflicted from his own privileged childhood among Pittsburgh society. Like Noah, Monty prays against the evil surrounding him, but he never expects God to send a flood. It takes five days for the Red Cross to respond to the Johnstown flood disaster, but…

When Lilly Jacobs’s coveted promotion as a designer is given to her less-talented co-worker and her boyfriend develops issues with monogamy, she’s convinced her bad hair is responsible for it all. Will a spa weekend with her Spa Girls help? Or will it take more desperate measures to convince her that love is in the air? My Thoughts While this was not my first experience with a Kristin Billerbeck book, it will forever be one of my favorites by her. Believe it or not, some…

Top Ten Books from 2023
Did you have a great reading year? I certainly did! It’s a miracle that this list has been whittled down to just 10 because I could easily add at least 5-10 more books to it! 2023 has been a spectacular year for Christian fiction, and I have been so impressed with the quality of books that continue to be published in this genre. For those who have wondered whether they should dip their toes into Christian fiction genre, believing it to be your grandma’s kind of stories, I think you’ll find that things have changed – and definitely for the better! This list has a consistent theme of historical fiction…

Top Ten Tuesday – Atmospheric Books
It has been ages since I last participated in a Top Ten Tuesday post. Today’s prompt sounded like a load of fun, so I couldn’t resist. What comes to mind when you think of Atmospheric Books? I honestly have never given it a second thought, but after looking back in hindsight, there are definitely some books that have had an uncanny way of completely transporting me to a particular place and time. Hopefully, there will be 10 books by the time we get to the end of this list! This description is mentioned at That Artsy Reader Girl today — The Novelry explains this concept as: “A novel feels atmospheric when…

A Battle Worth Fighting Book Review
A wonderful split time novel that kept me engrossed from start to finish! The modern day story centers around Sahara and a fight to keep her marriage intact. Her road is certainly not an easy one, and her attempts to make her husband notice her seem to fall flat at every turn. But bless him, her husband is a genuine lover of poetry and nature and beauty, and once she realizes that in a newer, deeper way, nothing can stop them. The historic story features Sahara’s ancestor who was brave enough to fight in the Civil War – as a woman soldier! Forgive my naivete, but I genuinely had NO…

Leave It to Claire Book Review
I really enjoyed this book. Like….REALLY enjoyed this book. While my life has not played out like Claire’s (my husband and I are still married, and we’ve never dealt with the issue of adultery), there were so many ways how Claire and I are a lot alike. We have the same goals, hopes, and dreams that we’ve not made a priority as much as we should have. It was eye-opening to read her perspective (even if it was fictional). I wanted to cry through all the moments where she genuinely struggled to have a kind word to say to her ex-husband. Her heart had been shattered, and their kids were…
