Jewelry Stories from Bridge of Gold
Thank you so much for joining me for today’s edition of Jewelry Stories! From the moment I saw this book cover and read the back cover blurb, I knew there would be jewelry ideas inside. 🙂 This book was released in 2021, and if you have never read about the history of the Golden Gate bridge, this book will be the perfect introduction for you. Want to know more? Here’s the book’s description…
Repairs on the Golden Gate Bridge Uncover a Century-Old Murder
Underwater archaeologist Kayla Richardson is called to the Golden Gate Bridge where repairs to one of the towers uncovers two human remains from the late 1800s and the 1930s. The head of the bridge restoration is Steven Michaels, who dives with Kayla, and a friendship develops between them. But as the investigation heats up and gold is found that dates back to the gold rush, more complications come into play that threaten them both. Could clues leading to a Gold Rush era mystery that was first discovered during the building of the bridge still ignite an obsession worth killing for?
If that doesn’t pique your curiosity, maybe these three new designs will have you running to Amazon to download Bridge of Gold to your Kindle. 🙂 Check out these three excerpts below, and I’ll see you at the end for a recap and some background on what inspired each piece.
This might be the most fun I’ve had with designs in a long time! I came across that diver’s helmet pendant quite by accident, and right around the time that I was reading the book. Problem is….have you ever seen a necklace with a diver’s helmet?! I surely hadn’t, and I knew it needed some dressing up which made those beads great to pair with it.
The bookmark…. y’all…. I have had this design in my mind for months now. Don’t you love it?! If you want to, you can remove the stretchy cord, open it up, and fill it with all kinds of tiny little notes. It’s so perfect for bookish peeps.
And last but not least, I had to include something that was very much gold. A gold nugget was out of the picture because 1) I don’t think most ladies now would want to wear that on their wrist and 2) because it’s not really my creative style. I saw this star charm that was gold, and paired with these gold, paint flecked beads – it was the perfect match. The star seemed appropriate as several of the dives in the book took place at night. Night + stars = jewelry win. 🙂
I hope you have loved today’s post with these excerpts and new designs! If you want more photos or details on any of the items I’ve shared today, simply scroll back up and look for the link under each photo.
I am slowly working through my list of planned book & jewelry collaborations, and there are at least a dozen that I have yet to share with you. I hope you’ll stop by next time for another Jewelry Stories! Who knows what I’ll feature next? As always, if you’d like to get notified of future Jewelry Stories, take a minute to sign up for my email list so you can get notifications when that next post goes live.
Until next time!
