Review Rewind – The Colonel’s Lady by Laura Frantz

About the book: Laura Frantz’s The Colonel’s Lady is historical fiction at it’s best, capturing readers with a powerful story of love, a search for the truth and, finally, forgiveness. It’s 1779 when Roxanna arrives from Virginia to the Kentucky fort commanded by Colonel Cassius McLinn. Millie’s Treasure Book Review

I hardly know where to begin in describing how much I LOVED this book! I’ve read a lot of books by Kathleen over the years, and by far, this has been my favorite one. I may be a little biased because the majority of the story takes place in my (nearby) hometown of Memphis, TN, but the story itself stands on its own merits regardless of the setting. So, if you don’t know anything about Memphis history, a lot of the landmarks, streets, and descriptions will not mean much to you. However, after living here almost my entire life, I had no trouble visualizing every bit of it. Adams Avenue…

A Battle Worth Fighting Book Review

A wonderful split time novel that kept me engrossed from start to finish! The modern day story centers around Sahara and a fight to keep her marriage intact.  Her road is certainly not an easy one, and her attempts to make her husband notice her seem to fall flat at every turn.  But bless him, her husband is a genuine lover of poetry and nature and beauty, and once she realizes that in a newer, deeper way, nothing can stop them. The historic story features Sahara’s ancestor who was brave enough to fight in the Civil War – as a woman soldier!  Forgive my naivete, but I genuinely had NO…

    Double Indemnity Book Review

Finally at the end of this audiobook, and I’m honestly not sure how I feel about it? I REALLY wanted to like it thanks to so many great reviews I’ve seen already. I really wanted to like it even more as it has numerous mentions of life insurance, policy language, and types of coverage that I work with on a daily basis (I totally geeked out over ALL of that). But the closer I got to the end, it just fell so flat. I knew what would inevitably happen to Matt, but it took sooooo long to get there (no spoilers, promise). Elena’s character drove me nuts, but on the…
