Blooming Rose Oval Locket Choker Necklace

Roses as fresh as a summer morning.

This vintage inspired necklace is made of black velvet ribbon measuring 14″ long with an antique gold lobster claw clasp and a 2″ extender chain.  The necklace is meant to be short so it rests very close to the neck.  Please feel free to contact me if you desire a different length.  Next, there is a large 30x40mm antique gold locket that hangs loosely from the ribbon.  Set inside the bezel is a lovely blooming rose design on an creamy background with a small bit of French script and sealed under glass.  There is ample space inside the locket to hold two photos or any treasures you wish to keep close.

This design was inspired by these two passages from A Heart Adrift by Laura Frantz –

“You are admiring the silk taffety ribbon, no? How about a yard or two of this Parisian blue or pear green? Scarlet is also gaining ground, though sable is the preferred color.” Madame Suchet took up the black and strung it round her own throat. “A ribbon choker necklace is all the rage.”

“Have you heard?” Miss Cartwright brightened. “I was at the mantuamaker’s just yesterday. She told me of a new fashion influenced by the secret language of flowers. By embroidering one’s clothes, one conveys a message.” She looked one of the paper flowers Esmee had placed on the table. “A carnation means ‘my heart aches for you.’ A rose in bloom signifies love. I say we all embroider our gowns with meaningful flowers for the coming ball.”
